Medical Office Administration Diploma
The Maritime School of Paramedicine is pleased to announce the launch of the Medical Office Administration Diploma Program to those interested in a challenging and rewarding career. The program is scheduled to begin January 2, 2008 and applications are now being accepted. The program will focus on an intense combination of interpersonal skills and technical abilities. The program, written and delivered by Heather Deveaux, teaches students to reflect on their past experiences to enhance their future career plans. Heather has worked in office administration for several years and has significant experience working with adult learners. She has a degree in Community Studies from the University College of Cape Breton, several courses in adult education, a Tutor and Instructor Certification, and a Medical Office Administration Diploma. Heather also teaches First Aid in her spare time to the public on behalf of St. John Ambulance. She has drawn on her education and varied work experience to put together a well-rounded productive curriculum that will empower students to take control of their own careers. We are providing our students with laptop computers in order to take full advantage of their study time; students will be able to practice essential skills such as typing and transcription at home so that they can master such skills. Students will also learn Business English and Communication practices so that they can better understand the inner workings of an office environment and contribute to it fully. Medical Terminology is the staple of this program and students study over 150 hours of it. Other skills taught include transcription, public speaking, and office procedures. The Medical Office Administration Diploma Program is an intense program. Only a limited number of students will be accepted to this program. We encourage all interested to apply. Our program has been approved by the Department of Education and compliments the other successful programs at the Maritime School of Paramedicine. Apply today! Seats will fill up fast!
