On-site
The entirety of the on-site program is delivered on a full-time basis over a 12-month period. For every hour of in-class study time, students are expected to complete an extra ½ hour at home. The total didactic time for the program is 756 hours, with practical labs totaling 243 hours. Clinical time in the adult patient settings equals 200 hours, while it equals 40 hours in the pediatric setting. Vehicle orientation is 14 hours. To complete the clinical hourly requirement, students perform 504 hours of on-the-job training in the ambulance setting. Therefore, for the entire on-site program, students must complete 1853 hours of training.
Off-Site
The distance program is delivered in a much different manner, in that students complete their didactic training on a part-time basis over a 12-month period, followed by 12 months in which students are expected to complete their clinical training. As a result, students attend didactic and practical labs for 1 full week of every month (Monday through Friday). Additionally, during this 12-month period, students have the opportunity to complete their hospital clinical time. Resource days are made available for student support, as well as weekly on-line sessions with one of the instructors. Once their 12 months of didactic training is complete, students begin the process of completing their clinical time in both the hospital and ambulance setting. Students are given 12 months to complete their clinical training.
In the case of the off-site program, for every hour of in class study time, students are expected to complete an extra 3 hours at home. Otherwise, the off-site program is similar to the on-site program, namely the total didactic time for the program is 756 hours, with practical labs totaling 243 hours.
